About these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of the website at https://convertisio.eu and the image converter on it ("Convertisio" or "the service"). The service is provided by Aissa Scarmure, Rue de la Station 58, 1360 Perwez, Belgium ("we" or "us"). By using Convertisio you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

The service

Convertisio is a free online tool that converts images between WebP, PNG and JPG. You do not need an account. Conversion runs in your browser, on your device; your images are not uploaded to us.

The service has technical limits, which we may change. Currently you can convert up to 10 images per batch and up to 50 MB per image, and there are limits on image dimensions that are explained on the website. Because conversion runs on your device, speed and results also depend on your browser, your device and its available memory.

Your images and your responsibilities

  • You keep all rights in your images. We claim no ownership of, and no licence to, the images you convert. We never receive them.
  • You are responsible for the images you convert. Only convert images that you own or have the right to use and modify, for example because you created them, have permission, or their licence allows it. Converting a file does not change who owns its copyright.
  • Metadata is not kept. Converted files do not include the original's metadata, including copyright and caption information. If you are required to keep such information (for example under a stock-photo licence), it is your responsibility to preserve it.

Acceptable use

You must not use Convertisio to:

  • process, create or distribute content that is illegal under applicable law;
  • infringe the intellectual property, privacy or other rights of others;
  • disrupt, overload or attack the website or its hosting infrastructure, including by sending automated requests in volumes that burden the service;
  • generate artificial ad views or clicks, interfere with how ads are displayed or measured, or obtain rewards without genuinely watching a rewarded ad;
  • copy the website or present it as your own service, except as allowed by law or by an applicable open-source licence.

We may restrict access to the website, for example by blocking abusive traffic, if we reasonably believe these Terms are being breached.

Conversion results: keep your originals

We work to make conversions accurate, but we do not promise that every conversion will be lossless, error-free or suitable for your purpose. In particular:

  • JPG and WebP files created by Convertisio are lossy: some detail is lost, more so at lower quality settings.
  • Converting to PNG cannot restore detail already lost in a JPG or lossy WebP, and PNG files are often larger.
  • Metadata such as camera details, GPS location, copyright and captions is not copied to the converted file.
  • Colours are converted to sRGB, so wide-gamut images may look slightly less saturated.
  • In JPG output, transparent areas are filled with a background colour.
  • For animated WebP or PNG files, only the first frame is converted.
  • Very large images may be rejected or scaled down to fit browser limits; the website tells you when this happens.

Always keep your original files, and check converted files before you delete the originals or rely on the results.

Advertising

Convertisio is free because it shows ads. Ads are supplied by third parties. Before each download, a short video ad is shown. If no video is available, if your browser blocks it, or if you refuse advertising cookies, you simply wait a few seconds instead: the download is never withheld. We are not responsible for advertisers' products, services or websites, and showing an ad is not an endorsement.

Our intellectual property

The website, including its design, text, name, logo and code, belongs to Aissa Scarmure or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. You may use the website for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, modify or redistribute it except as allowed by law. Some components are open-source software (for example the libwebp WebP encoder) and are used under their own licences, which these Terms do not restrict.

This does not apply to your images: as stated above, we claim no rights over them.

Availability and changes

We provide Convertisio free of charge and may change, suspend or discontinue all or part of it, including features and limits, at any time. We do not guarantee that it will always be available or work in every browser or on every device.

We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version, and we will announce significant changes on the website. If you keep using Convertisio after a change, the updated Terms apply.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Convertisio is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we give no warranties, express or implied, about the service, including that it will be uninterrupted or error-free or that its results will meet your needs.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, including loss of files or data, loss of image quality or metadata, or any indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, in particular liability for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, for fraud, or for death or personal injury. Nothing in these Terms affects your mandatory rights as a consumer.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Belgian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there. Otherwise, the competent Belgian courts have jurisdiction.

General

If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. If we do not enforce a provision straight away, we have not waived our right to do so later. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of Convertisio.
